During a normal summer’s cruise, RIVAL will negotiate approximately 500 locks on 1,200 km of the French Inland Waterways system. If we’ve learned anything from these cruises it was that even the best of schedules cannot be maintained.
There’s too much food and wine to taste, too many vide greniers (flea markets) to attend and too many festivals, abbeys and chateaux to visit. Add to that the possibility of chomages (unscheduled lock closures), grêve générales (general strikes),
possible mechanical failures on the boat (she’s 88-years old!) and last, but not least, the whims of guests and crew (‘It’s nice here, let’s stay another day’)!
AND SO, WE HAVE AN ITINERARY! BUT, DO WE, REALLY?
We’ll stay in touch before your arrival. If a last minute change to our meeting point is necessary, we’ll let you know by phone or email about a week before your arrival. Don’t worry!
